Robert Pattinson 'splits from fiance FKA twigs'

FWS - Robert Pattinson and FKA twigs have reportedly split, just three months after the actor claimed they were 'kind of' betrothed.

The couple began dating in in September 2014 and are said to have got engaged just seven months later, although the pair refused to explicitly confirm or deny the reports.

Twilight star Robert, 31, is now said to have called an end to their romance as he 'grew tired' by the fact they had been 'drifting apart'. 

A source close to the couple told The Sun: 'In recent months they have really started to drift apart and have been spending less and less time together.

'Rob is tired of it, has called off their engagement and told friends they have split. With so much ­history between them, though, there are still strong feelings there.

'It’s a difficult situation but things have become tough between them for some time and they both know they were no longer working as a couple.'

MailOnline have contacted Robert and Twigs' representatives for comment. 

The pair have not been pictured together since May 2017, and last month, FKA twigs - real name Tahliah Debrett Barnett - was seen without her distinctive engagement ring as she sat front row at the Christopher Kane London Fashion Week show.

Fans also spotted that FKA was not wearing the ring on August 1, which immediately prompted questions about a break-up from observers.

Just weeks before that, the British actor said that he was 'kind of engaged' to girlfriend FKA during an interview with Howard Stern.

You're engaged, right?" Stern pressed during an interview on his SiriusXM show, to which Robert replied: 'Yeah, kind of.'

Kind of?' asked Stern. 'You're one of those secretive guys with the relationship, right? Protective.'

Robert went on: 'It's one of the most frustrating things in the world, you want to be able to (be more open), but it's literally like, you get stuck in this position but you have to make this decision whether you want to let the crazy people in.'

A source told E! News in August that things between the couple were not as strong as they once were, saying: 'He is technically still with FKA twigs, but it doesn't seem like it will last.

'They were serious at one point, but not anymore. The whole thing with Rob saying they are 'kind of engaged' speaks for itself. The relationship has been fizzling out.'

Robert's last long-term relationship was with Twilight co-star Kristen Stewart - with the couple splitting in 2012 after four years of dating amid a cheating scandal.

In July of 2012, photos surfaced showing Kristen and her Snow White and the Huntsman director, Rupert Sanders, 44, getting a little too close and personal; the images, which made headlines around the world, showed the pair kissing and embracing during a day out in Los Angeles.

At the time, Rupert was married to model Liberty Ross, with whom he has two children, and Kristen was dating Robert Pattinso.

Kristen has since dated Alicia Cargyle, St. Vincent, and is currently in a relationship with model Stella Maxwell.(daylimail)
